"Eat Like an Italian" scoops award at the prestigious Bord Gáis Energy Irish Book Award in a brand new category, Avonmore Cookbook of the Year 2012.
The awards were announced at a Gala event in the RDS, Dublin, in November 2012. This new category celebrates the best of Irish food writing and Catherine is delighted to be the first recipient of this prestigious award.
This competitive new category included other leading food writers such as Rachel Allen, Neven Maguire, Donal Skehan, Domini Kemp and the ICA. This made the award even more coveted and it came as a complete surprise to Catherine. "This award is a great seal of approval and is a dream come true" says Catherine.
The eternally effervescent TV Chef, food writer and proprietor of Ballyknocken House & Cookery School, is delighted at the popularity of her latest book. "Eat Like an Italian" provides an insight into Italian food and food culture culminating in a collection of Italian inspired recipes with a truly Irish twist. Every recipe shows how to tweak Italian dishes using local produce in a "Keeping it Local" theme, something Catherine holds close to her heart.
Ballyknocken House is scenically located on a 350 acre farm only a short drive from Dublin City Centre in County Wicklow, Ireland. This charming Victorian Farmhouse offers Bed and Breakfast accommodation and is home to TV Chef and Food Writer, Catherine Fulvio.

Growing up on a working Farmhouse, Bed & Breakfast while holding on to the apron strings of her mother, Catherine Fulvio (nee Byrne), was destined to dedicate her career to the food & hospitality industry.

Conveniently located in the Garden of Ireland, Ballyknocken House is the perfect place to explore County Wicklow from, hike the Wicklow Way, play a round of Golf or take a short drive to Glendalough, Sally Gap or Powerscourt Waterfall before returning to the comfort of Ballyknocken House.
Alternatively guests can enrol on a cookery course at Ballyknocken Cookery School.
Catherine is fast becoming a household name here in Ireland having completed three TV series for RTE and launched two Cookbooks, she has made an impression on many Irish homes for providing quick and easy food suitable for family life and entertaining friends.
She has made many media appearances including the NBC Today Show in the States as well as appearing on other major international TV channels including Discovery, The Food Network and BBC Good Food Channel’s “Market Kitchen” to name a few.
Ballyknocken House is located only 29 miles south of Dublin City, it is the ideal location for a weekend break or a longer stay while exploring the surrounding countryside.
